The conceptual focus of this project is to incorporate NEXT Hub’s mission. The spacial design is influenced by the urban nodes of the original planning of Washington, D.C.’s streets which were meant to guide people towards areas of landmarks and popular locations. Both floors contain key spaces, which were viewed as the main “nodes” based on the philosophy of active and diverse educational experiences. Natural tone colors were used to define zones in reference to their influence on feelings and emotions, and what kind of mental state and focus is needed in each area. Finishes and materials were chosen to follow this and keep each zone monochromatic with their designated color.
